A study conducted for 12 years by Swedish researchers of 3.4 million people aged 40 to 80 years, has shown that having a dog reduces by 33% the risk of dying prematurely. Scientists have also compiled a list of dog breeds that are most beneficial to health.
The Setter
At the high end, found the researchers, the Retrievers, and Setters: they would reduce by 40% the risk of premature death among their owners. This is probably due to the fact that these big, energetic hunting dogs have a great need to spend themselves. Running dogs
Regular dogs would reduce by 37% the risk of premature death among their owners.
The primitive dogs
Reducing the risk of premature death by 28 %, the primitive dogs Spitz, Alaskan Malamutes and Siberian Husky, Chow-Chow or Basenji!
Waterdogs
In fourth place are Retrievers, Water Dogs, and Spaniels: they reduce the risk of death by 26
The Dachshund
The Dachshund, these little dogs “sausages” we love so much reduce to 24% the risk of premature death!
From Pinscher to Rottweiler
The sixth group listed by the researchers consists of very different breeds: Miniature Pinscher, Schnauzer, Bulldog, Mastiff or Rottweiler! All would reduce by 22% the risk of premature death in their masters.

The Terriers
Most Terriers would reduce the risk of premature death by 19% according to scientists.
The Greyhounds
The noble dogs that are the Greyhounds would reduce the risk of premature death among their owners by 17%.
Sheepdogs and Bouviers
In ninth place, we find the various shepherd dogs and Bouviers: they reduce the risk of premature death in their owners by 16%.
Small pet dogs
Finally, small pet dogs, called “toy” would contribute to limit by 15% the risk of premature death among their owners. Like what, even small dogs contribute to the good health of their masters!
